It’s our business to know all about workforce motivation and reward, and it starts with our own people. In this fast-moving, often intense professional consulting arena, we’ve long been advocates of the work/life balance principle, doing all we can to ensure you have time and energy for a life beyond the office. For example, our flexible working policy means you can ask to work from home when the need arises.

We’re flexible on holiday arrangements too, and a sabbaticals programme gives you the chance to take an unpaid career break, to do whatever you want to do knowing you can come back and take up where you left off. We’ve also set up paternity and maternity arrangements which are generous by any standards. And while we’re not shy of working hard at Mercer, we also know how to play, with a full calendar of social and sporting events.

Being a global company, we certainly create the opportunity, but we don’t make it an obligation. After all, uprooting to go and live abroad doesn’t suit everyone. But for the majority of our people who would welcome the experience, our international assignments policy ensures it’s not just down to the luck of the draw. Depending on your qualifications and interests, the scheme enables you to apply for and undertake an overseas work placement typically lasting about two years.
