Choosing where you’re going to build your career is a big decision. We understand that you may well want to get a clear idea of what we do and how we do it first. This is why we run our eight-week summer internship programmes and 15 month placements, which offer far more than just work experience. We also regularly hold Insight Days, designed to provide a small taste of the opportunities here.

Eight week summer internship programme

If you’re in your penultimate year of study, this is your chance to get a taste of working for a multinational consulting firm. Each summer we offer internships across many of our UK locations in Retirement, Risk & Finance, Investment Consulting and Outsourcing. It’s an 8 week programme running from the beginning of July to the end of August. All work is supervised and you’ll be assigned a buddy to make sure you settle in quickly and to help you with day-to-day work queries.

Furthermore, this isn’t just work experience. You’ll also get a real taste of the sort of work our graduates do, and we’ll be interested in getting to know you and seeing how much you learn and develop while you’re with us. We’ll also make sure you receive plenty of support and get useful feedback on your performance. Successful interns may be offered a graduate role at the end of their internship.

15 month placement opportunities

For those in their penultimate year, wanting to gain greater exposure to our Retirement Service Centre in our Belfast office, we offer 15 month placements commencing in June. These are a great opportunity for you to learn more about the world of pensions as well as fully understand the role of a Retirement Analyst in a supportive team environment. You’ll get exposure to global projects and the opportunity to understand how the work that you do impacts on Mercer and our clients. If a placement is completed succesfully you may be offered a graduate role.

Insight Days

For students who want a small taste of the opportunities at Mercer, we also run Insight days. These days will give you an overview of Mercer and what it’s like to work here. You will also be given the opportunity to complete tasks that give you a real taste of the kind of things we do. For details of our next insight days, please see our events page.
