With my background, I wanted a stimulating job that would involve the fields I enjoy most: mathematics, computing as well as the modelling and analytical aspects of physics that can readily be transferred to the financial world.

What struck me during the recruitment process was that Mercer genuinely tried to see where I would best fit within the organisation and what my interests were, and steered me towards a role in the financial strategy group, a specialist function.

The work is mainly project based, varied and challenging and there is always something new and interesting to learn, but my colleagues are all approachable and willing to take the time and answer my questions fully. Studying and working simultaneously can be time consuming, but the generous study package and support mean I have time to enjoy my activities outside work.

There are plenty of opportunities, and if you are willing to work hard and take the initiative, the support and encouragement is always there backing you.
